PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are a family of synthetic chemicals used in industrial processes, firefighting foams, and manufacturing. They are called 'forever chemicals' because they do not break down in the environment and accumulate in water and human tissue. Many Puerto Rico facilities, particularly in pharma, semiconductor, and chemical manufacturing, generate PFAS-containing wastewater that is now subject to strict federal discharge limits. 

No. Unlike thermal or adsorption-based PFAS treatment methods that concentrate contaminants and create a secondary hazardous waste problem, Axine's electraCLEAR fully mineralizes PFAS and other contaminants into harmless gases and trace salts. There is no secondary solid or liquid waste stream. 

Yes. Axine conducts a site-specific treatability study before system design. NTSPR coordinates this process locally, from initial sampling through final system commissioning and compliance reporting.
