What is Magnetic Nanotechnology Treatment?

Magnetic nanotechnology treatment is an advanced method for water conditioning that uses magnetic nanoparticles, nanobubbles, and magnetic fields to modify the physicochemical properties of water. This process helps prevent corrosion and scale formation in systems such as cooling towers and boilers, without the need for chemicals. One of its key functions is to promote the transformation of calcium carbonate from its harder, more adhesive form, calcite, into a less adhesive crystalline form called aragonite, significantly reducing scale buildup on equipment surfaces. By acting at the molecular level, this technology improves operational efficiency, reduces maintenance, and extends the service life of the systems.

Installation

How it works

NTS’s NanoTech magnetic water treatment employs permanent magnets clamped around makeup-water or circulation pipes to create a static magnetic field through which the process water flows. As the water passes through this field, it acquires a positive electrostatic charge relative to ground, which fundamentally alters how hardness minerals precipitate: calcium carbonate forms as loosely bound, suspension-stable aragonite rather than hard, adherent calcite scale. Over time, existing calcite deposits dissolve and are carried away, while the charged environment simultaneously inhibits electrochemical corrosion—reducing pitting and general metal loss on pipe walls and heat-transfer surfaces. Because the system relies solely on passive magnetic fields, it requires no external power or chemical additives, delivering a truly chemical-free, zero-energy solution for scale and corrosion control in cooling towers, boilers, and heat exchangers.

On the left, one can see minerals, untreated water leaves behind dense, adherent calcite flakes that build tough, insulating crusts on pipe walls. On the right, Aragonite, the same dissolved calcium re-precipitates as loosely bound, needle-like aragonite crystals that remain suspended or easily slough off, preventing hard scale buildup and allowing existing deposits to dissolve and wash away.

NanoTech uses magnetic nanoparticles to alter mineral crystallization pathways, promoting the formation of soft, non-adherent aragonite instead of hard calcite scale.
